CHRISTMAS STORY

Christmas 1914. The Western Front. For one night, the war will stop.

In the frozen trenches of France, the exhausted survivors of a British trench raiding team expect a brutal winter at war. Instead, on Christmas Eve, a strange silence settles over the battlefield.

Voices call out across the barbed wire. Carols drift through the cold night air. Soon British and German soldiers are climbing from their trenches to meet in No Man’s Land, shaking hands where only days before men were trying to kill each other.

For a few precious hours, the guns fall silent.

But the men of the raiding team soon recognize some of the Germans celebrating the truce—enemy soldiers who only days earlier launched a deadly raid on their trench.

Now the same men are sharing cigarettes, singing carols, and wishing each other a Merry Christmas.
